Kanye Update

Kanye recently announced that this stylish varsity jacket will be 1 of 3 pieces of his Pastelle label dropping in January '09. I hope to acquire this piece sometime in the future.

Also, in big news, Kanye announced that his Nike Air Yeezy's will be available in March. These are sick looking high-tops and I definitely want a pair.

Nicest Home in Australia

This house from Brisbane, Australia may very well be the nicest home in all of Auz. In fact, this will be my house one day! I just love everything about it. Great architecture, quality interior finishing, yet it still seems like a comfortable place to live. Often these extra-contemporary homes can feel a little cold so it's refreshing to see a place that has been built with livability in mind.

Royal Revelation

Royal Revelation
, from California, is a newcomer to the industry, but they're doing many great things as a start-up brand. They produce a limited run, so many of the pieces are pretty exclusive. They've got some nice T's, plaid shirts, and jackets for the upcoming season.

Paul Smith Carry-all

Paul Smith drops this really cool canvas carry-all bag. True to form, the bag has signature Paul Smith boldness, and excellent finishing inside and out. Instead of nautical flags, Mr. Smith has used military medal ribbons all over to make this bag one of a kind.

Sony Ericsson C902

Just saw the new James Bond film Quantum of Solace. Amazing as usual. This is the phone mr. 007 claims in the new film and it's top-shelf. It's the Sony Ericsson C902 3G with a 5.0mp Cybershot Camera. I don't believe these have been released in Canada yet, so in the meantime, I will be trying to figure out how to get one in my hands.

The Modern Day Bible

Mr. Mehrotra over at http://eyeknow.wordpress.com/ is a scholar and a true gentleman. He has exquisite taste in fine literature and he provides this great review on Thomas Friedman's latest masterpiece, 'Hot, Flat and Crowded'. I'm about halfway through this book myself and it is a truly something that everyone interested in the economic and energy future of the world should read. A modern day bible. Friedman's perspective is insipiring and makes me realize that this is what youngsters should be reading in school to become global citizens.

Here are Mr. Mehrotra's words of wisdom:
"

Thomas Friedman needs to be in US President-elects Obama’s private counsel, because this book is manifesto what America and the world needs to do to get out this crisis were now in. This crisis were in is by Friedmans account to be hot flat and crowded, that is global warming, the rise of the middle class all over the world and rapid population growth which is making our planet dangerously unstable. All these trends are interwoven and will determine the quality of life this century. For example, he argues the convergence of hot, flat and crowded is tightening energy supplies, intensifying extinction of plants and animals, deepening energy poverty, making petrodictators stronger and accelerating climate change. Basically YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK. If you have read his previous book, The World Is Flat, then you will know this guy is on the cutting edge of what is happening in our world right now.

He believes were entering the Energy-Climate era, and what is happening right now is akin to the internet revolution of the mid-90’s. He gives examples of what has led to this point and solutions of what could possibly be done to get us out of this mess. As you can tell from this post it just totally engrossed me, and that is because when you read this book he discusses where we are right now in history what the future can be if the right decisions are made. A big booyah to Friedman for writing this."

Maple Leaf Lounges

There's only one way to fly for me and it includes indulging in Air Canada's Maple Leaf Lounges. With all the travel that I do, I've gotten so fed up with the 'common concourse'. What a coincidence since I'm actually blogging from the one in Toronto right now. This picture is of the Toronto lounge and I'm actually sitting in the booths on the left, 3 table lamps down.

With free food, an open bar, fine ales on tap, how can you resist? Right now I'm working on my Air Canada status and I only need 6 more flight segments before the New Year to become a member of this fine club, so wish me luck!

Adidas SLVR

Adidas recently announced the launching of a new line called SLVR. I'm really looking forward to seeing more about this line, as it has been described as a line between Adidas and Y-3 in terms of pricing and distribution, which will offer assorted apparel, accessories and footwear. It's great to see the sportswear companies offering simple, and aesthetically pleasing basics that can fit into your everyday wardrobe.

Also, Adidas SLVR has announced that their flagship store will be opening in Soho during New York fashion week in Feb 09.

Sperry Boat Shoes

A friend of mine over at Room 907 had a brilliant find with these new chukka style boat shoes from Sperry Topsider. I agree, this reinterpretation of the classic boat shoe style is tremendous, and as of now these are my own personal must have shoe for SS09. Glorious.

Surface 2 Air

Parisien label, Surface 2 Air has got a lot of press with this leather bomber jacket, but deservedly so. Quite a fine piece, and this could very well be one of the nicest leather bomber's I've seen in a long time. It has all the right style in all the right places, and this is an item that can truly last a lifetime.

Also, Surface 2 Air has recently worked on a capsule collection with French electro music duo Justice on 2 pairs of jeans, and a couple of leather jackets. I've seen this collection in person at Barneys, New York and it is very legit. Take a look at some photos of this line over at Hypebeast.

G-Star Boots

On my next trip to the UK, I'm pretty sure I'm going to snag a pair of these quality boots from G-Star Raw. They actually have a really solid line of leather boots that are unavailable in US stores. This model, is a great winter boot that can pretty much go with anything, and I particularly like the subtle Chelsea boot influence at the ankle. Clean, simple, solid.

Oliver Peoples x Kris Van Assche

The amount of designer collaborations these days can be quite overwhelming, but this one really caught me 'eye'. These glorious shades are what happens when you mix Oliver Peoples with Kris Van Assche, artistic director for Dior Homme and designer extraordinaire. These have a unique coin-locking mechanism that allows you to change the lens color, hassle-free. Although these are probably way out of my price range, they will remain on my wish list.

LV x Comme Des Garcons

This pop-up LV x Comme Des Garcons store in the Aoyama fashion district of Tokyo, is certainly worth a visit if you happen to be hanging out in Tokyo.

Rei Kawakubo’s designs for Louis Vuitton are on offer here.
